Presentation
Created on the Ile de Ré in 1955 the SCEO Les Huitres de la Côte d’Emeraude came to Cancale in 1970. In this family business it is now the 3rd and 4th generations who work together.
Joris has joined his parents Patricia and Sébastien to continue the family tradition of excellence and direct sales. That is the Daniels, everything done by the family from the stage of baby oysters because they have their own nursery beds in Charente-Maritime near the famous Fort Boyard.
At Cancale a team of 5 work every day to grow the oysters naturally with a well-oiled organisation. The baby oysters are placed in the old zone at the foot of the old lighthouse and the port of La Houle. Then after 18 months they are transferred to the new zone on the other side of the bay. This is the family secret which creates their beautiful plump oysters with a solid shell .

They sell exclusively to individuals or works committees, a faithful clientele.
The oysters from the Cote d’Emeraude are also available direct from the workshop and at certain markets: Saturday at St Jouan des Guérets, Sunday at Gévézé from September to April and Sundays at Pleslin-Trigavou and on 5 markets around Chartres including that at Epernon every fortnight.
I, who learned my trade through an apprenticeship, am passionate about the transmission of knowledge to the young. I am proud of the link we have with our customers, all of whom we know personally.
